CO2 emissions linked to energy and their primary influencing factors, spanning the period from 1990 to 2015. Morocco’s CO2 emissions surged since 1990 due to a 40% population increase and a 90% rise in GDP per capita. Although emissions grew more slowly than the economy recently, a significant 7% reduction in carbon intensity occurred from 2011 to 2016, driven by the adoption of renewable energy and increased use of natural gas in power generation.
